Different Shapes of Lights (2022) for cello and piano

This is a premiere by Kenny Lee and Jeff Brown at the WIU COFAC Recital Hall on February 8, 2023.

The work is written with only one note A in different octaves that span across the cello and the piano register. The title of the work – Different Shapes of Lights – is inspired by the ending scene of Soma, a survival horror game that explores the meaning of the existence of humankind. Compositionally, the title describes how one note is interpreted in so many different ways in this music composition.
